Title:
Revamp paladins
Author's comment (hide):
A idea revamp for the paladin class in 2.3.

The new talent trees you see here are one part of this revamp to get all paladins out from in the back and healing only to being active in melee combat, and to make it even less useful to play a paladin in a non combative roll.

Major changes to Holy makes Holy a more spell caster tree vs a healer tree and fill in hybrid healer/DPS role with spell damage plate armor or as "battle cleric" in plate healing armor.

Retribution has under gone a major over haul. It is now one of the most effective DPS support play styles in the game. It can increase spell damage done by the whole raid, increase melee groups DPS and the effective healing done to them. Improves the judgments that it's keeping refreshed and reduces in coming melee damage from their target.

Protection now plays more like a warrior spec for protection, while at the same time not stepping on a protection warriors toes and keeps the 2 class equal but with their own flavors.

Both protection and ret have been given buffs that makes it a must to have at least one of each spec deep spec in a 25 man raid.

New things:
Righteousness Charges.

A new combat system that works along side the seal and judgment system in place now and gains befits from some new talents and old ones.

The idea behind this new system is to promote Paladins in melee combat at all times, even when in a healing role.

What are Righteousness Charges?

Righteousness Charges are much like combo points for rogues, but there are some major differences between the two. Righteousness Charges are "stored" on the Paladin where combo points are "stored" on their target, and Righteousness Charges "travel" with the Paladin when he changes targets.

Righteousness Charges are also not spent like combo points, but decay over time, at the rate of 1 per 10 seconds, and a Paladin can have stored up to 10 charges at any given time.

How to gain charges:

Charges are gained by melee attacks with Seal of Command proc, melee attacks with Seal of the Crusader, Seal of Vengeance and the newly renamed Seal of the Martyr(seal of blood), or with a Crusader Strike attack.

Each proc with SoComann or each melee attack with SoV, SotC and SoB or Crusader Strike will grant the paladin one Righteousness Charge.

Holy Shield, Blessing of Kings, Seal of Command and Crusader Strike have all been made baseline.

Crusader Strike now deals all Holy damage.

Holy Shield now lasts for 12 seconds and has a 40% change to block. Holy shield is also now counted as a skill and can be used when silence.

Judgment of Command now scales with attack power and spell damage and no longer has a on stun effect of dealing more damage, doing damage baed off of 40% of your attack power. SoC has had it's proc rate retuned to 10 PPM and now does damage equal to 70% of your weapon damage and 40% of your spell damage.

Both Seal of Vengeance and Seal of blood have been made baseline for both factions with Seal of blood having been renamed Seal of the Martyr.

SoV will now proc on each attack and each proc after a full five stack has been reach will deal 25% of the dot's damage on attack. SoV is now meant to be the main tanking seal used to hold threat by paladins.

SoB, now Seal of the Martyr is meant only for a ret pve DPS seal and works just as before but with gains 20% of your spell damage to each proc, and each Judgment of the seal lowers the paladins threat by 5% along with the damage done by the judgment.

Hammer of Wrath has had all ranks removed and placed into the Retribution tree. Hammer of wrath has had it casting time removed, but it's cooldown raised to 10 seconds, mana cost incrased to 10% of base mana, range lowered to 10 yards and will no longer reset your weapon swing. Hammer of Wrath also now deals damage based off 20% of your attack power plus 100% of your spell damage.(this change is balance by having either high spell damage or a high attack power your other will be much lower and the long cool down so that it can not be spamed, with new talents, 1700 attack power and full S2 and pvp gear a ret paladin will beable to reach around 4.5k crits with HoW with AW up, still lower then a exacute crit for with talents and deathwish plus impale and 90 rage dumped into it.)
